Shohei Ohtani, as a batter, has been as advertised in his first season with the L.A. Dodgers, leading all of MLB in batting average while sitting in the top 10 in home runs. But this week, Ohtani gave an update on how he's progressing from the Tommy John surgery he underwent back in September. "Just continuing to increase the distance and the pitches, and just seeing where that goes," Ohtani said. "I'm not quite sure how far I'm going to go out there, but that's the progression." Ohtani won't be throwing any pitches for L.A. in 2024, but if his rehab goes as planned, we could see the two-time MVP on the mound for the Dodgers on opening day 2025.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. How many active MLB pitchers with at least one 200-strikeout season on their resume, of which Ohtani has one, can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
