Hope you like Game 5s, we've got a pair of 'em tonight. The Timberwolves are looking to stave off elimination again, while the Rangers and Panthers fight for control of the Eastern Conference Finals. It seems only right we get invested in both, don't you think?
Pair of plays for playoffs tonight
Boards galore: Anthony Edwards over 7.5 rebounds (+110 DraftKings)
Edwards has been a force on the glass this series, and continuing that intensity on the boards is going to be a key factor for Minnesota staying in this series.
Edwards has gone over this line in three of four against the Mavs, averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. Allowing boards to SG was a big weakness of Dallas' game this year, as they allowed the fourth-most to the position on the season.
That vulnerability has been rearing its head of late, and we know we need a piece of Edwards in this big game at home.
Bankroll builder on the ice: Rangers +2.5, Panthers +2.5, Under 6.5 goals (-109 FanDuel)
This play is not the flashiest, but it paints a clear picture of how we see this game going in New York. By taking both +2.5 alternate pucklines, we're betting that neither team wins by more than two goals. That should be attainable considering three straight games have gone to overtime.
We tack on the alternate under at 6.5, as we do envision a tight matchup coming in this massive Game 5. The two games in New York to start this series both went under, finishing with just three total goals each time. We buy us a bit of breathing room with this play.
Dust off your second TV and enjoy all the action tonight!
In the news ...
Edmonton evens up the Western Conference Finals — Blowing 2-0 leads seems to be in style out West, as we now have had back-to-back games with exactly that between Edmonton and Dallas. The Stars quickly went up 2-0, but ultimately fell 5-2, with the Oilers knotting the series at 2-2. Dallas is -130 for tomorrow to take back the lead, and they remain series favorites. We have a feeling we're in for a seven-game series. The Stars are currently +255 to win the Stanley Cup, with the Oilers priced at +275.
Paul Skenes continues to dominate — Now might be the time to pounce on Paul Skenes to win NL Rookie of the Year while he's still plus-money. Skenes has quite clearly emerged as not just one of the best rookies, but one of the best pitchers in the league. Skenes's latest outing saw the Pirates righty strike out nine and allow just two runs in a Pirates win. Skenes now has 30 Ks in 22 IP, and the best seems yet to come. You can still grab Skenes at +280 to win NL Rookie of the Year. The favorite is Chicago's Shota Imanaga, who is off a rough-outing that saw him allow seven earned runs.
Miami Dolphins sign Jaylen Waddle to contract extension — The next shoe has dropped in the wide receiver market, as the Dolphins have agreed to terms on a new three-year, $84.75 million contact extension with fourth-year WR Jaylen Waddle. The deal puts Waddle inside the top-five highest paid WRs of the league behind teammate Tyreek Hill, Amon-Ra St. Brown and A.J. Brown. All eyes now turn to Cincinnati (Ja'Marr Chase), Dallas (CeeDee Lamb) and San Francisco (Brandon Aiyuk). What in the world are these teams waiting for? Waddle is proof that you try and get out ahead of the market before the market dictates the price. The Dolphins are currently +200 to win the AFC East and +1100 to reach the Super Bowl.
