Christian McCaffrey will not be leaving the Bay Area any time soon.

On Thursday, it was reported that the San Francisco 49ers had agreed on a two-year extension with the reigning AP Offensive Player of the Year. The deal makes McCaffrey the highest paid running back in the league and will keep him in San Fran for the next four seasons. Of course, the signing could also signal that a trade of one of their star wide receivers may be coming down the pipeline. But for now, the Niners locked up their most crucial offensive chess piece as they try to return to the Super Bowl for the third time in the Kyle Shanahan era.
