The PGA Tour heads to Detroit this week for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and even though many of the elite players are taking the week off, there's still money to be made on the first round starting on Thursday morning. Detroit Golf Club is one of the easiest venues on the PGA Tour schedule, so let's target some unders for Round 1 and root for some birdies.
Round 1 score: Maverick McNealy under 68.5 (-105 FanDuel)
Because it's so easy to hit greens in regulation at Detroit Golf Club, players can go low if their putter gets hot. There aren't many golfers in this field we trust to make more putts than McNealy.
McNealy ranks seventh on the PGA Tour this season in putts per round and 22nd in birdie or better conversion percentage. The Californian also ranks fourth in scoring average and eighth in total strokes gained. McNealy's game is starting to trend in the right direction, as he finished T23 at the PGA Championship, T17 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T7 at the RBC Canadian Open in his last three starts. He should get off to a strong start in Detroit.
Round 1 score: Taylor Pendrith under 68.5 (-115 FD)
Pendrith may have been built in a lab specifically to fit this golf course. The Canadian bombs the ball off the tee and is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour, which are the two most important skills for success at Detroit Golf Club. It's no wonder Pendrith has finished T2 and T14 in two career starts at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
In eight competitive rounds at Detroit Golf Club, Pendrith has gone under this line six times. The only two rounds in which he didn't shoot 68 or better were in the final round when the pressure of contending is ramped up. He shot 67 in the first round last year and 64 in the first round the year before.

'Nova Knicks sell the farm for Mikal Bridges — New York might as well change its official nickname to the 'Nova Knicks after agreeing to trade for Bridges on Tuesday to pair with the trio of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo. The Knicks will give up a massive haul for the former Wildcat, sending the Brooklyn Nets Bojan Bogdanovic, five first-round picks, a first-round pick swap and a second-round pick, as first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. It won't be easy to knock off the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference, but New York is now +1000 to win the NBA title in 2025.
All eyes on Bronny James ahead of Wednesday's NBA draft — The 2024 NBA Draft will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday night. Although this is one of the weakest classes in recent memory with no can't-miss prospect at the top, it's a fascinating draft because of LeBron James's son, Bronny. James entered the draft after an uninspiring freshman year at USC, but a team could reach for him on Wednesday hoping to land a package deal with LeBron. The Los Angeles Lakers are -135 favorites to select James. As for the top of the board, the French duo of Zaccharie Risacher (-400) and Alexandre Sarr (-650) are heavy favorites to go No. 1 to the Atlanta Hawks and No. 2 to the Washington Wizards, respectively. Kentucky standout Reed Sheppard is expected to be the first American off the board. Buckle up for what should be a wild night.
England still favored to win Euro 2024 after 0-0 draw vs. Slovenia — England will be advancing to the knockout stages at Euro 2024, but getting there didn't look pretty. Gareth Southgate's squad won Group C despite going just 1-2-0 and scoring only two goals along the way. The Three Lions have been stellar on the defensive end, but someone needs to step up on the attack if they're going to make a run to the final. Despite its struggles, England is still a +425 favorite to win Euro 2024.
