While some events have been competing for a few days, the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics officially begin Friday with the Opening Ceremony. 

Team USA will be the second-to-last country to appear at the Parade of Nations as host of the 2028 Summer Olympics, and will be led out by flag bearers LeBron James and Coco Gauff. Team USA comes into the 2024 Games having won the most gold medals at the past three Summer Olympics, and will look to continue that run of dominance this summer. 

They certainly have the star power backing up their flag bearers with other household names like gymnast Simone Biles, swimmer Katie Ledecky and golfer Xander Schauffele – fresh off of his win at The Open Championship. These Games will also have the debut of three new competitions: breaking (or break dancing), kiteboarding and kayak cross.
