Olympic parlays: Giannis to hit peak Greek Freak

Giannis Antetokounmpo of Greece scored 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting against Canada, while no other player on the team attempted more than eight shots. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Last Friday, we wished a bittersweet goodbye to Bark Bets legend Griffin Carroll. We're sad to see him go, but the show must go on!

The men's basketball competition at the Paris Olympics got started over the weekend, and it continues with two star-studded matchups early on Tuesday morning for us here on the East Coast. Let's spice things up with two same-game parlays for Greece vs. Spain and Canada vs. Australia to kick off the new week.

Greece vs. Spain

Greece moneyline
Giannis Antetokounmpo over 29.5 points
Santi Aldama under 17.5 points
+335 FanDuel

There isn't a ton of NBA talent between these two rosters, so we're expecting a huge performance from Antetokounmpo going up against Aldama and Willy Hernangomez. The Greek Freak scored 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting against Canada, while no other player on the team attempted more than eight shots. He's going to be even more aggressive on the offensive end coming off a loss in Game 1.

Aldama is coming off a team-high 27 points against an undersized Australian team, but he went 6-of-8 from three and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in that matchup. He won't be able to replicate that shooting performance against a Greek defense anchored by Antetokounmpo.

Canada vs. Australia

Australia +6
Josh Giddey over 13.5 rebounds + assists

Luguentz Dort over 1.5 made threes
+505 FD

Australia looked impressive in its 92-80 win against Spain over the weekend, as five players scored at least 13 points in the victory. Canada is more top-heavy with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and R.J. Barrett, while Jamal Murray doesn't look like the same player without Nikola Jokic on the court.

Giddey did it all for Australia with his 17 points, eight assists and eight rebounds against Spain, and he should see a similar usage in this matchup. We like him to clear his rebounds + assists prop.
As for Dort, he plays the role of off-ball shooter for Canada. The shooting guard went 2-of-4 from three against Greece, and that came in just 18 minutes of action because he fouled out of the game. If Dort can stay out of foul trouble, he should see at least five or six open looks from deep.

In the news ...

Kevin Durant leads Team USA over Nikola Jokic and Serbia — The United States men's basketball team began its Olympic gold medal pursuit on Sunday with a 110-84 victory against Serbia. It was a slow start for Team USA, but Durant came off the bench and made every shot he looked at to give the Americans a lead they wouldn't surrender. KD finished the game with a team-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while LeBron James chipped in 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Team USA is a 31-point favorite against South Sudan on Wednesday.

Phillies, Yankees, Padres make moves as MLB trade deadline heats up — Multiple players were on the move this weekend ahead of Tuesday's MLB trade deadline. The Philadelphia Phillies added bullpen help by trading for Los Angeles Angels closer Carlos Estevez, the New York Yankees traded three prospects to the Miami Marlins for Jazz Chisholm and the San Diego Padres locked up a closer by trading three top prospects to the Tampa Bay Rays for Jason Adam. The Los Angeles Dodgers are +330 favorites to win the World Series, but that could change before the trade deadline passes.

Dolphins sign Tua Tagovailoa to $212 million contract extension — The Miami Dolphins have locked up their starting quarterback. Over the weekend, the Dolphins inked Tagovailoa to a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in franchise history. Tagovailoa is +2500 to win NFL MVP this season.

Quick Picks

1 Zach Eflin under 0.5 walks

Eflin will make his Baltimore Orioles debut on Monday afternoon, and we expect him to do what he does best. The right-hander has the second-lowest walk rate (2.8 percent) among qualified pitchers. He's recorded zero walks in 10 of his 19 starts and has a career 2.1 percent walk rate against current Toronto Blue Jays hitters.

Latest Odds:  +140
2 Yankees @ Phillies no runs first inning

Let's dip our toes in the NRFI pool. Zack Wheeler (0.90 ERA) and Luis Gil (1.35) have both been lights out in the first inning this season, and the Phillies are ice cold at the plate right now.

Latest Odds:  -110
3 Royce Lewis over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Lewis is batting .429 and slugging .821 against left-handed pitching this year, and New York Mets starter Jose Quintana ranks in the seventh percentile in xBA (.280) and xERA (5.22). This is a great setup for the Minnesota Twins slugger.

Latest Odds:  -130
4 Texas Rangers @ St. Louis Cardinals

It's going to be close to 100 degrees in St. Louis with the wind projected to blow strongly out to left field during the game, creating the perfect combination for an over. Nathan Eovaldi has also given up four home runs in his last two starts, and the Cardinals should add to that total with this friendly weather. Give us the over 8.5.
Monday, 7:45 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
Rangers
-1 (+115) -112 > 8.5 (-108)
Cardinals
+1.5 (-164) -104 < 8.5 (-106)
5 Paul Skenes under 1.5 earned runs allowed

Skenes has been dominant on the road this season with a 0.86 ERA and a .135 batting average allowed. He's gone under this line in four of his five road starts with three shutout performances, and the Houston Astros haven't seen the young phenom yet.
