Baseball fans are used to Shohei Ohtani doing things never seen before, and on Saturday delivered again. His stolen base in the ninth inning against the Oakland A’s made him the first designated hitter in history to record 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a single season with two months to spare, and he’s the first Dodger to achieve the feat since Matt Kemp in 2011. Ohtani’s been known for his electric pitching arm and powerful bat throughout his career, but as he takes the year off of pitching to recover from Tommy John surgery, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed an emphasis on using his speed. As a result, Ohtani set a new career-high in steals before August and has a real shot at just the sixth ever 40-40 season.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Only 70 times in Major League history has a player hit 30 home runs and stolen 30 bases in the same season. Can you name all of the players to reach those marks in six minutes?
Good luck!
