The Las Vegas Raiders announced that they’re rolling with veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew II as their starting signal caller in Week 1 after a tight competition with Aidan O’Connell. Minshew II outplayed the second-year QB O’Connell (who went 5-5 as a starter last year) in Vegas’ second preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. Minshew II has been a more efficient leader of the Raiders offense so far, averaging 6.4 yards per pass attempt with one touchdown and no interceptions so far. 

“His personality is infectious, his energy is infectious and his leadership is infectious,” Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said of Minshew II.
