NFL Futures Friday: We love these player futures, and you will too

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

It's finally Friday, which means it's time for another edition of NFL Futures Friday. Last week we touched on some win specials with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, and this week we're looking to add a few statistical futures to the portfolio.

Let's break down a pair of individual player futures we love for the 2024 NFL season.

NFL Futures Friday: Rushing and receiving props

Most regular-season receiving yards: Garrett Wilson (+1700 FanDuel)

The New York Jets might have the widest range of outcomes of any team in the NFL heading into the 2024 season. New York could fire Robert Saleh midseason and contend for the No. 1 pick if everything goes wrong. But if Rodgers stays healthy and returns to his MVP form, the Jets could vie for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Due to their volatility, we want to play the Jets to the extremes in futures markets. Let's say Rodgers does get back to playing quarterback at an elite level. After all, he threw for more than 4,000 yards in four straight seasons before losing Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. The future Hall of Famer can still put up those passing numbers, and if he does, Wilson will be a big reason why.

Wilson is entering the heart of his prime, and Rodgers is going to pepper him with targets considering the next wide receivers on the depth chart are Mike Williams coming off a torn ACL, Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson and Malachi Corley. Wilson could lead the NFL in targets this year, and he has the talent to put up monster receiving numbers with a good QB finally throwing him passes.

Most regular-season rushing TDs: Isiah Pacheco (+3200 FD)

Sports bettors, get to your battle stations. The Pacheco breakout season is coming, and we must prepare accordingly.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going all in on Pacheco as the bell-cow running back in this offense. The only other RBs on the roster right now are Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who will serve as the passing-down back, Deneric Prince and Keaontay Ingram. With no more Jerick McKinnon in the mix, Pacheco is going to dominate the red-zone snaps on one of the best offenses in the NFL.

If you're worried about Patrick Mahomes stealing all the short-yardage touchdowns in Andy Reid's offense, we have some good news for you. In 2011, LeSean McCoy led the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns under Reid. There's room for everyone to eat in this offense.

In the news ...

Eagles trade for Jahan Dotson — The Philadelphia Eagles were already projected to be one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL this season, but they looked to be weak at the WR3 spot. Well, not anymore. On Thursday, Philadelphia struck a deal with the Washington Commanders to land Dotson, a former first-round draft pick. Good luck slowing down this offense in 2024. The Eagles are -120 favorites to win the NFC East.

Anthony Richardson has up-and-down performance in preseason finale — The full Richardson experience was on display in Thursday night's 27-14 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. On his first drive of the game, the Florida product went 7-8 passing and threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to rookie Adonai Mitchell. The second drive didn't go as smoothly, as Richardson threw a 14-yard pick-six on an off-target throw to his tight end. Richardson needs to find more consistency under center if he's going to win Comeback Player of the Year at +650.

Mariners fire manager Scott Servais amid AL West slide — The Seattle Mariners' season is slipping away quickly. After leading the AL West by 10 games in June, the Mariners have gone 20-33 since then to fall five games behind the Houston Astros in the division. Searching for a late-season spark, Seattle decided to fire Servais on Thursday and replace him with former Mariners catcher Dan Wilson. The Mariners are +700 to win the AL West with 34 games remaining.

Quick Picks

1 Jacksonville Jaguars @ Atlanta Falcons first half over 18.5

The Jaguars are taking their preseason finale seriously, as head coach Doug Pederson said the starting offense will likely play the entire first half. If Trevor Lawrence plays the full 30 minutes with his first-string weapons, the Jags could clear this line themselves.

Latest Odds:  -110
2 Spencer Steer over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Steer is on a roll with four home runs, 12 RBIs and seven runs scored over the last 15 days, leading the Cincinnati Reds in all three categories. In 12 career plate appearances against Bailey Falter, Steer is batting .600 with a home run and a double.

Latest Odds:  -140
3 Texas Rangers @ Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians are struggling at the plate right now, and current Cleveland hitters are batting just .186 with a .222 xwOBA against Nathan Eovaldi. On the other side, current Rangers hitters are batting only .197 with a .304 xSLG against Tanner Bibee. We'll take the under 7.5.

Rangers
+1.5 (-196) +120 > 7 (-110)
Guardians
-1 (+112) -134 < 7 (-137)
4 Philadelphia Phillies @ Kansas City Royals

Taijuan Walker has been terrible for the Phillies with his 6.39 xERA and 49.2 percent hard-hit rate, and 10 of his 12 starts finished with at least nine total runs. Michael Wacha has been much better, but current Phillies hitters have a .431 xwOBA and a .652 xSLG against him. Give us the over 9.

Royals

5 San Francisco Giants @ Seattle Mariners

The 49ers will play their starting offense to begin the game, but Brock Purdy and Co. won't last long. Brandon Allen and Tanner Mordecai will likely take most of the snaps, while Bradley Carter and Nathan Peterman will run the offense for Las Vegas. We like the idea of fading these quarterbacks with the under 32.5.
