The Saint Louis Cardinals (69-69) are in the midst of a second-consecutive lost season, with one major reason being the struggles of slugger Paul Goldschmidt. The nearly 37-year-old first baseman’s numbers are down across the board, but despite the dip in production, Goldschmidt said he has no intention of retiring after this season. Goldschmidt is a seven-time All-Star and won National League MVP in 2022 after hitting .317 with 35 home runs and 115 RBI. But in 2024 he has a career-low batting average of .244, and while he’s still shown power with 20 home runs, his strikeout rate of 27.7 percent is a career high.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Many of the best hitters rack up strikeouts due partly due to their volume of plate appearances, and Goldschmidt is on track for his 11th season with at least 140 games played. With that being said, can you name the active MLB hitters with the most strikeouts in their career?
Good luck!
