ALCS Game 2: Yanks to play their ace

New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. Brad Penner-Imagn Images

That's how you start the week off right! On Monday's edition of Bark Bets, we cashed two monster tickets on Breece Hall to rush for 100 yards (+500) and Dawson Knox to score a touchdown (+600). It won't be easy to follow up that performance, but let's do our best with a Same Game Parlay for Game 2 of the ALCS.

ALCS Same Game Parlay

Leg 1: Yankees moneyline first 5 innings

We have no problem backing Gerrit Cole to outperform Tanner Bibee. Cole has given up one or fewer earned runs in seven of his last 10 starts, and current Cleveland Guardians hitters have just a .327 xwOBA against him. Meanwhile, current New York Yankees hitters are batting .353 with a .356 xwOBA against Bibee.

Leg 2: Aaron Judge over 0.5 walks

Judge has recorded at least one walk in all five postseason games so far and 15 of his last 16 overall. Although Judge isn't lighting it up at the plate, opposing pitchers are still going to pitch around him with runners on base. There's always the possibility that Judge steps to the plate in a perfect spot for an international walk, too.

Leg 3: Gerrit Cole under 5.5 strikeouts

We expect Cole to have a solid performance in Game 2, but he'll do that more with soft contact than swings and misses. Cleveland had the forth-lowest strikeout rate against righties this season (20.0 percent), and Cole has just a 22.5 percent K rate against current Guardians hitters.

Leg 4: Jose Ramirez 1+ hits

Ramirez is just 3-20 in the playoffs, but this is actually a good matchup for him. In 42 career plate appearances against Cole, Ramirez is batting .353 with two home runs and three doubles.

Put it all together, and we get a +575 SGP on DraftKings. Let's cash another one.

In the news ...

Davante Adams traded to the Jets — The trade news we all expected has finally arrived. On Tuesday morning, the New York Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Davante Adams, reuniting the star wide receiver with Aaron Rodgers. If you believe in Adams turning New York's season around, you can bet the Jets to make the playoffs at +155.

Bills squeak past Jets to strengthen lead in AFC East — The Buffalo Bills knocked off the New York Jets, 23-20, on "Monday Night Football" to improve to 4-2 on the year. Josh Allen accounted for three touchdowns, but rookie running back Ray Davis stole the show by leading the team with 97 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards. Aaron Rodgers threw a wobbly interception with a chance to tie the game in the final minutes, and the Jets are now 2-4. Buffalo is now a -340 favorite to win the AFC East.

Mets even NLCS with road win; Yankees roll in Game 1 — Monday's MLB playoff action didn't provide much dramatics. The New York Mets jumped out to a 6-0 lead against the Los Angeles Dodgers and cruised to a 7-3 win in Game 2 of the NLCS. In the ALCS, the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1, 5-2, thanks to Carlos Rodon's strong outing and home runs from Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton. The Yankees are now +125 favorites to win the World Series.

Paul George suffers scary knee injury in preseason — On Monday night, George hyperextended his left knee in a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks. The forward headed to the locker room for further evaluation and did not return to the game. After the game, George said he was "not too concerned" about the setback, but it didn't look good at the moment. The Philadelphia 76ers, which have already ruled out Joel Embiid for the preseason, are +1000 to win the NBA Finals.

Quick Picks

1 New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes

The Devils look like the ideal target for overs early in the season. New Jersey plays at a fast pace, ranks second in expected goals for and ranks 28th in expected goals against. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have the highest expected goals for per 60 in the league. Give us the over 6.

Devils
+1.5 (-175) +140 > 6 (-118)
Hurricanes
-1 (+102) -156 < 6 (-125)
2 Jason Robertson 4+ shots on goal

The San Jose Sharks are picking up right where they left off last season, as they're already allowing the most shots on goal per game in the NHL (35.0). Robertson recorded 16 shots in three games against the Sharks last year.

Latest Odds:  +195
3 Philadelphia Flyers @ Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are off to another slow start coming off their Stanley Cup Finals appearance, but they lead the NHL in Corsi percentage and have the third-highest expected goal differential. We think their luck turns around against a Flyers team that just gave up six goals to the Calgary Flames. Give us the Oilers -1.5.
