After a career-high 25.9 points and 7.5 rebounds-per-game in 2024-25, former No.1 overall draft Paolo Banchero is signing a five-year maximum rookie contract extension with the Orlando Magic.

The Magic may have bowed out in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs last year, but look out for the Magic in 2026. With the East looking wide open for the near future with key injuries to stars like Jayson Tatum in Boston and Tyrese Haliburton in Indiana, Orlando is taking a serious swing at becoming a contender. Along with locking down Banchero, they also held onto big man Mo Wagner while acquiring Desmond Bane from Memphis via trade.
