For 20 seasons, Michael Strahan held the NFL’s single-season sack record with 22.5 before he was tied by T.J. Watt in 2021. But now, Myles Garrett has the record to himself after getting his 23rd sack of the season on Joe Burrow in the 4th quarter of Cleveland’s 20-18 loss to the Bengals.
While Garrett did it in 17 games compared to Strahan’s 16-game schedule, he isn’t letting that stop him from celebrating with “some pizza and ice cream.”
Garrett’s record chase was one of the lone bright spots of a 5-12 season for the Browns that ended with the firing of head coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons. The four-time All-Pro will get ready to play for his fifth different head coach in his 10th season in 2026.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the players with at least 18 sacks in one NFL season since they were officially tracked in 1982 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
