A 16-year-old New York Giants fan has raised enough money for a private plane to fly a banner calling for the dismissal of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen ahead of Sunday’s clash with the San Francisco 49ers.
Joshua Reynolds, a high school junior from Bergen County, N.J., started a GoFundMe campaign earlier this year and collected $2,350 for the plane banner. Although High Exposure Aerial Advertising planned to fly the message before the team’s September 28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, poor weather in Woodbine, N.J., forced a delay.
The message, aimed at co-owner John Mara, will read: “MR MARA ENOUGH IS ENOUGH CLEAN HOUSE.”
“I feel like people gave me the money because they wanted that message flown,” Reynolds told NJ Advance Media. “Maybe it’s better that it got delayed, because we could see how the season progressed more. I never really thought about not doing it.”
Reynolds said he chose Sunday’s 49ers-Giants game because it is the first afternoon game since Week 4. The Giants last played at home on Thursday, October 9, when they pulled off a 34-17 upset of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants are 2-6 thus far and only 5-20 over the last two years. They have made the postseason twice since their Super Bowl 46 victory following the 2011 season.
“Even though every year we’ve been getting new players, it’s the same result,” Reynolds explained. “You can’t keep trying the same thing that hasn’t worked at all.”
Reynolds said that one of his biggest concerns is Daboll and the Giants potentially holding rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s progress back. Dart, the No. 25 pick in April, has completed 59.9% of his passes for 984 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions since replacing Russell Wilson in Week 4. He’s also rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns, and he’s only turned the ball over once in the last three weeks.

However, Reynolds pointed out that second-year New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has made massive strides after the Patriots replaced head coach Jerod Mayo with Mike Vrabel. Maye’s 76.0 QBR ranks fifth leaguewide entering Sunday afternoon.
“We have to rip the Band-Aid off sooner rather than later,” Reynolds said, “because there is no point in Dart developing if he’s not winning games.”
Dart’s 61.4 QBR ranks 14th, ahead of notable names such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield (61.1), the Denver Broncos’ Bo Nix (58.7), and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers (52.1).
NFL Media gives the Giants a 2% postseason chance as of Friday morning, though those odds would only increase to 3% with a win.
