1 Big Target The Chargers Must Go After Before the NFL Trade Deadline
NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at New York Jets Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images

There are five teams that injuries have ravaged this season: the Buccaneers, 49ers, Ravens, Commanders, and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers’ offensive line, running backs, and defense have been completely ravaged by injuries.

The good news is Joe Alt and Khalil Mack have returned to the team.

The bad news is that they have also lost their top 3 running backs to injuries. Najee Harris tore his Achilles, a potentially career-ending injury. First-round draft pick Omarion Hampton will not return until late November at the earliest, and now third-string running back Hassan Haskins has a hamstring injury.

Can An RB Trade Save the Chargers’ Season?

Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?

The Chargers have the pieces to go on a deep run this year and even a shot at the Super Bowl. LA’s defense is solid with Derwin James and Khalil Mack leading the team. The receiving core is above average with the emergence of Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey. Justin Herbert is a top 5 quarterback at minimum, and the offensive line will be much improved with Alt’s return.

The one key ingredient this Chargers team is missing is stability in the running back room. With Hampton at least a month away from returning, Breece Hall offers stability to the running back room until Hampton’s return.

Hall is not just great in between the tackles, but he is an excellent route runner with great hands, an added wrinkle that Herbert and the Chargers have been desperately missing.

If there is one piece the Chargers should aggressively pursue before the trade deadline, it is certainly Hall. He will add a much-needed bolt of electricity to this offense this year and will fill the gap left by Harris by aiding the development of their 2025 first-round pick, Omarion Hampton.
