2023 NFL quarterback analysis: Tennessee Titans

Current starter: Ryan Tannehill | Current backups: Malik Willis, Josh Dobbs

State of the position: Tennessee started three different QBs during its injury-riddled 2022 season. The starter, Tannehill, threw for 13 touchdowns and had six interceptions in 12 games. He missed time with an ankle injury. Tannehill's replacements didn't provide the spark the team desperately needed, and Tennessee finished the season on a seven-game losing streak.

Willis, a third-round pick from Liberty, played in eight games and made three starts. He only completed 50.8% of his passes, throwing three interceptions and no touchdowns. Dobbs replaced Willis in Week 17 against Dallas. In Week 18, his fumble against Jacksonville sealed the de facto AFC South title game for the Jaguars.

There are 36.6 million reasons why Tannehill will be the starter next season, but there might be one free-agent QB Tennessee pursues. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rappaport, the Titans would consider signing pending free agent Tom Brady.

However, Brady is a long-shot option considering Tennesee's lack of playmakers and its offensive line having the worst pass-blocking grade in the NFL per Pro Football Focus

Key stat: Tennessee averaged 171.4 passing yards per game last season, the third worst in the NFL.

2023 QB forecast: Tennessee will have a new offensive coordinator, and with the addition of more weapons and a retooled offensive line, the offense could be back on track. Tannehill should be the starter, but there's no telling how he'll recover from ankle surgery.

The camp battle for the No. 2 job will be one to monitor. Tennessee could re-sign Dobbs, or Willis could earn HC Mike Vrabel's trust as the primary backup.
