2023 Week 6 Injury Report: Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants
Jamie Germano/Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Buffalo Bills are 3-2 after a disappointing loss to the Jaguars in London. Unfortunately, a week removed from CB Tre’Davious White’s Achilles tear, the Bills lost two more important players to injuries, LB Matt Milano and DT DaQuan Jones. Unlike Tre White, who will miss the season, Milano and Jones could have a chance to return at the end of the season if all goes well. For now, all of them are on Injured Reserve.

On a positive note, DE Von Miller returned to action for the first time since tearing his ACL last November. He played 20 snaps (22.7%) in London and finished the game unscathed. He should slowly ramp up his snaps over the next month and return to his 2022 snap share (~65%) by the latter half of the season. Another player set to return this week is LB Baylon Spector. He strained his hamstring on August 26th during the last preseason game. He was a full participant in practice this week, his first off Injured Reserve.

As for the New York Giants, they have a substantial number of injuries. Starting QB Daniel Jones, OT Andrew Thomas, C John Michael Schmitz, DE Azeez Ojulari, and backup OT Matt Peart are all OUT. Several players are QUESTIONABLE: starting OT Evan Neal, RB Saquon Barkley (who has missed the past three weeks), LB Micah McFadden, TE Darren Waller, and their backup C Shane Lemieux, DE DJ Davidson, and RB Gary Brightwell.

Questionable

CB Dane Jackson

Dane Jackson played 100% of the snaps last week against the Jaguars. However, he ended up on the injury report with a ‘foot’ injury this week. This is very similar to how Rousseau played a full snap share against the Dolphins but missed the following game with a foot ailment. A possible mechanism of his injury occurred in the first quarter when he had his left foot clipped by Taron Johnson while pursuing a tackle.

Jackson is likely dealing with a minor sprain or a contusion. His outlook for the game is bleak as he was DNP for the first two practices this week, but he was able to return in a limited fashion on Friday.

Unfortunately, I do not think Dane Jackson plays this Sunday. He was in sneakers at Friday’s walkthrough practice, which indicates it is still bothersome. I feel that the combination of a weaker opponent and how the team handled Rousseau’s foot injury keeps him sidelined for one week.

TE Dawson Knox

Dawson Knox played a 70% snap share against the Jaguars, which was his second-highest rate this season. He was seen with tape on his right wrist late in the game and was also spotted at the Buffalo Sabres game sporting a wrist brace on Thursday.

Knox was limited in practice all week but was seen catching balls fine in practice. He is likely dealing with a minor sprain but should be active Sunday.

TE Dalton Kincaid

After playing 80% and 60% for the first two weeks of the season respectively, Dalton Kincaid has only been averaging 52% over the past three games. During the Jaguars game, he left briefly in the beginning of the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a head injury. He was subsequently cleared and returned to the game.

Unfortunately, Kincaid was placed in the concussion protocol after the game and has been limited all week. He appears to be progressing well as he is clearly in Stage 4 out of 5 based on his participation in practice.

Dalton Kincaid will need to be cleared by the team physician and an independent neurological consultant to play in the game Sunday. I think this will happen and he will be active.

DE Greg Rousseau

Groot missed the London game with a ‘foot’ injury. Fortunately, he was able to ramp up from limited at practice early in the week, to a full participant on Friday. He is set to play this Sunday.

CB Christian Benford

Benford was limited all last week in practice in a non-contact jersey with a ‘shoulder’ injury. He ended up missing the game. However, he was a full participant all this week and will play Sunday.

DE Shaq Lawson

Shaq was a last minute addition to last week’s injury report with a ‘toe’ injury. There are no reports what happened, but he ended up missing the game. He came back this week as a full participant in practice all week. He will play Sunday.
