Week 3 Fantasy Football Start 'em: Defense/Special Teams

New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have struggled to protect Aaron Rodgers as the 41-year-old has been dropped seven times in two games, and he tossed a pair of INTs last week. The Pats lead the league in sacks with nine and have intercepted a pair of passes. New England has accomplished this with the 12th-highest pressure rate (21.1%). If Rodgers is on the run, it could be another long day for the Steelers.

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers

The Falcons' concerted investment in rebuilding their pass rush has already paid off with seven sacks on 17.9% pressure and 1.5% hurry rates. Carolina has allowed only four sacks but committed five turnovers, including one returned for a TD. Atlanta's opponent sits as the third-best matchup, on paper. It's unlikely we see the Panthers being able to muster a strong offensive effort of any type, and that bodes well for gamers whose scoring format rewards for limiting points on the scoreboard.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Sit 'em: Defense/Special Teams

Cleveland Browns vs. Green Bay Packers

The Packers are limping a little on offense, but that shouldn't matter against the Browns. Cleveland's offense is unlikely to be able to sustain drives, which would gas the defense early, and Green Bay has surrendered only two sacks on the year. Neither opponent could take the ball away from this offense, and Cleveland hasn't generated a turnover of its own yet, either.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Detroit Lions

It's not that Baltimore isn't capable of creating turnovers or putting Jared Goff on his back, but the risk of finding out and being wrong isn't worth it. In the first two weeks, Detroit has turned it over only once and taken four sacks, which includes getting whacked by the Pack at Lambeau. Baltimore's defense has yet to find its footing through two weeks. Only three sacks and two takeaways have been produced. It's understandable if you can't get to Josh Allen, but posting just two sacks of Joe Flacco is inexcusable.
