2025 Fantasy Football TE Start/Sit: Week 6

Fortunately, tight end barely took a ding with bye weeks. We lose T.J. Hockenson and Dalton Schultz this week, both middling options at this point. George Kittle won't play again, and it's unclear whether Brock Bowers will return after sitting out Week 5. Hence, the need to get cute at the position is practically nonexistent.

Fantasy football owners frequently ask themselves, "Who do I start?" Trust our decades of expertise for precise matchup evaluations and adept player insights to give you the winning edge! Each week, we'll highlight some of the less obvious starters and contrast those bright spots with fantasy anchors who can sink your chances of coming away with a win.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Start 'em: Tight Ends

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders vs. Chicago Bears

Ertz is a low-volume play for those in need of a somewhat lively option. In 2025, he has only one game with more than three catches and/or 38 yards, which came in Week 2. The Los Angeles Chargers blanked him in Week 5. Although it doesn't hurt if Terry McLaurin is absent again, his availability isn't a deal-breaker in whether you can get away with starting Ertz. This one is all about chasing the matchup profile. Chicago has given up the second-most receptions to the position in 2025, allowing 51.8 yards, on average. If Ertz can get into that realm, he's a viable starter for needy PPR gamers.

Evan Engram, Denver Broncos at New York Jets

This London-based contest has Engram facing a Jets team that allowed the 13th-most receptions to the position in the first five weeks. While that's more or less neutral, it's actually a poor matchup rating for yardage generated. Only nine defenses have been stiffer in that regard. The real winning aspect of this matchup is a ridiculous one in 5.4 receptions went into the end zone, and that's easily the highest conversion rate in the NFL. Engram may not do a ton of damage with his meager target share, but finding the end zone is worth chasing should you be in a bind.

Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins vs. Los Angeles Chargers

We promoted Waller as a playable option in this space last week, and he delivered. While there's still some merit on playing him for a cheap TD flier in deep leagues, he's largely benchable. The Bolts have allowed the third-fewest catches and fourth-lowest yardage output per game. Waller has an outside shot at finding the end zone as two of 16 total catches against LA scored, but the Dolphins have little to worry about in the passing game after Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane. Corralling Waller won't be a tough task for a defense that is 32.9% better than league average in PPR scoring.

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens vs. Los Angeles Rams

It appears Baltimore will be without Lamar Jackson (hamstring) once again, and that makes Andrews a tough sell in fantasy. Last week, with Cooper Rush under center, the veteran tight end drew only in a blowout loss, though he played only 25% of the snap count. It resulted in two catches for 22 yards. Aside from Week 3, Andrews has a total of 10 total catches in the four other appearances this year. Los Angeles allowed neutral numbers across the board to the position in the first five weeks. TEs have averaged the 15th-most receptions and yards, on average, scoring at the 17th-highest rate.
