The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.

Here's everything you need to know about Texas A&M edge defender Nic Scourton heading into the 2025 draft:

Vitals

Height: 6-4

Weight: 280

Age: 20

Strengths

A stout defender with a well-built frame, Scourton is an impressive overall athlete with the refined pass-rushing technique to get after the quarterback in a wide variety of ways. He uses his length to his advantage, keeping would-be blockers at bay as both a pass rusher and when trying to disengage and find the ball-carrier against the run. He’s quick to recognize what’s happening in the backfield and react to the play, and he’s got enough versatility and athleticism to transcend scheme and alignment responsibilities. Scourton is one of the youngest prospects in this class, and won’t turn 21 until just before his first NFL regular season.

Weaknesses

He’s not the most explosive edge player when it comes to firing off the ball, making life easier for opposing blockers against both the run and pass. He can play too upright at times, failing to provide a reliable anchor against the run, and getting pushed around when he doesn’t set his base and overextends to compensate. Scourton isn’t the most bendy pass rusher around the edge, but doesn’t generate enough explosiveness off the ball to dominate as a power rusher, either.

Final Analysis

Scourton has pleasantly surprising technical prowess for such a young prospect, which bodes well for his ability to make an immediate impact at the next level, as well as his potential ceiling. That said, he’ll need to improve his consistency as a run defender if he wants to be an every-down impact player, and figure out a way to translate his overall athleticism into more speed and power as a pass rusher.
