There are four teams left, and DraftKings already has lines up for potential Super Bowl matchups.
First, this weekend, the Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites over the Bills and the Eagles are laying 4.5 points to the Commanders. If chalk holds, we’ll see a rematch of the game from February 2023, which saw Kansas City beat Philadelphia.
The Commanders and Bills would be looking to end big-time Super Bowl absences, with the latter trying to finally win one. Washington has been in five Super Bowls, winning its last two in 1987 and 1991, while Buffalo infamously lost four straight from 1990-93.
The theme here is that bettors should expect the AFC Championship Game winner to be favored, regardless of whether it’s the Bills or Chiefs. Going back to the 2000-2001 season, the AFC has been favored in 18 of the last 24 Super Bowls. Eleven of those 18 games saw Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady start at quarterback (one Super Bowl had both!).
Also noteworthy is how closely DraftKings has the Chiefs and Bills rated. Both teams are favored in either hypothetical matchup by the same point spread, with Kansas City being rated as the better team on a neutral field by about one point. For example, the Bills are -235 against the Commanders on the moneyline while the Chiefs are -220.
