One of the Tennessee Vols' top remaining 2026 recruiting targets revealed when he plans to announce his commitment.

2026 four-star athlete Joel Wyatt told On3 this week that he's "getting close" to committing to a program.

Wyatt didn't reveal a specific commitment date, but he noted that he's planning to commit before his high school season starts

"I think I will be committed by the end of July," said Wyatt. "It is something I am hoping to do soon."

Wyatt, 6-foot-4/195 lbs from Bell Buckle, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 4 athlete in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee. He's also rated as the No. 42 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Scouting report from 247Sports: Polarizing two-way athlete with a robust multi-sport background that possesses the ability to project to either side of the football at the next level. A long, gangly mover hovering around 6-foot-4 and 200-pounds, Wyatt operates with relative ease and athleticism on both sides of the ball while demonstrating the ability to chew up cushion quickly and navigate in and out of breaks efficiently at the wide receiver position. Although he’s still developing as a pass catcher, the Top247 standout’s length, leaping ability and open field elusiveness make him one of the more dynamic prospects in his position group. On defense, the Tennessee native will situationally reside as an overhang safety, covering ground quickly while flashing natural instincts in run support but is primarily used as a 3-4 standup edge where his speed and athleticism are virtually impossible to defend for opposing offensive linemen. Although his collegiate position projection is still coming into focus, Wyatt unquestionably possesses the elite physical traits to play receiver or defensive back on Saturdays while his lack of lower body mass will more than likely prevent him from playing any closer to the line of scrimmage. Either way, the Top247 standout projects as an all-conference prospect at the Power Four level with the potential to develop into an early day NFL Draft choice.

Wyatt is considering Tennessee and Vanderbilt (Oklahoma is also in the mix, but the Sooners aren't currently viewed as a real threat to win this recruiting battle).
