The 2025 NFL Draft is on Thursday, and there's a lot of belief in the idea that the Detroit Lions could be looking to trade up at some point. If they do, they may have to include a player to get a deal done.
Here are three players that the Lions could potentially move at some point during the draft this week:
This is definitely one to keep an eye on. At this pint we know thathe's going to be fighting it out for the QB2 spot with Kyle Allen, but if the Lions decide to draft a quarterback somewhere in the first four rounds, that could spell the end of Hooker. There could be teams that are interested in giving him a try, and they may be willing to offer a late-day three pick to work that out. Now that there are some quarterback needy teams like the Giants and Saints looking to make moves, the Lions could take advantage there.
Probably a long shot, but when you look at the linebacker corps with Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes, and Grant Stuard, the Lions are pretty set there. You don't want Rodriguez to go, but if a team is willing to make a good offer and the Lions get the chance to get a premier pick, then you make this deal.
Look, I know how everyone feels about him, and I feel the same way, but the Lions have quite a chance to make a big cost-cutting move that would allow them to more comfortably sign Brian Branch, Kerby Joseph, Aidan Hutchinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jack Campbell, and Sam LaPorta to their expected top of the market contacts.
Ultimately, it's a long shot that probably won't happen, but you just can't rule it out, especially after the Lions brought in Texas receiver Matthew Golden for a top-30 visit.
