3 Key Takeaways From Packers Win Against Cowboys
Mark Hoffman/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

After a shocking win against the Dallas Cowboys, here are three key takeaways from the win for the Green Bay Packers.

In one of the most shocking games of the NFL Wild Card Weekend, the Packers were able to go into Dallas and run the Cowboys off the field. Despite being a touchdown underdog, the Packers never trailed in the game, and they were never threatened by Dallas.

With the loss, there will be a lot of questions surrounding the future of the Cowboys, but the Packers deserve a lot of the credit in this one. Now, the Packers will be heading to San Francisco to play the 49ers, however, here are three key takeaways from their win against the Cowboys.

Aaron Jones can still go

For the Packers, it was a well-balanced attack on the offensive side of the ball with efficient play both on the ground and through the air. With A.J. Dillon out, Aaron Jones was tasked with carrying the load for the offense, and he was able to do just that.

In the win, Jones totaled 118 rushing yards on 21 carries with three rushing touchdowns. It was one of Jones’ best games of the season and a very encouraging thing to see for the Packers. If Jones is going to play like he did against the Cowboys, the Packers will be able to compete with anyone.

Defense is opportunistic

In a game that everyone thought Dallas was going to win and have a big game offensively, the Packers’ defense was the unit that set the tone. Green Bay forced two turnovers in the game, one of which was a pick-six by Darnell Savage.

The Packers’ ability to force turnovers and win the possession battle was key to beating the Cowboys, as Dak Prescott has usually been great at home. In the second half of the season, the Packers’ defense continued to improve and that came to peak in Dallas .

Jordan Love is their guy

The decision to move on from Aaron Rodgers must not have been an easy one for the Packers, but like when they moved on from Brett Favre to Rodgers, the Packers look like they struck gold again with Love.

In his first career playoff game on the road, Love beat one of the best teams in the conference on the road. Against the Cowboys, Love totaled 272 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and was a very efficient 16-for-21 passing.

Regardless of what happens in the rest of the playoffs for the Packers, they have to be happy that they have their franchise quarterback in Love. Now, Love will be tested once again next week against the 49ers, but the young quarterback doesn’t seem to be afraid of the moment.
