3 members of the Cleveland Browns who could end up on the NFL trade block at some point

The Cleveland Browns recently wrapped up rookie minicamp, and mandatory minicamps across the NFL will be here before we know it.

For the Browns in 2025, the goal is to take a step forward after finishing 3–14 last season. Cleveland desperately needs to find an answer at the quarterback position following what is widely considered the worst trade in NFL history for Deshaun Watson.

The roster the Browns have right now won’t be the same one they carry into Week 1 on September 1—or by the end of the 2025 season. To start the week, here’s a look at three players who could end up on the trade block.

QB Kenny Pickett

Cleveland currently has four healthy quarterbacks on the roster, not including Watson, and will need to make some decisions by the end of training camp. With the Browns having signed Joe Flacco and drafted a pair of rookies, Kenny Pickett—acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles—could become expendable.

Pickett may be a trade candidate if another team suffers a quarterback injury or needs a stopgap option during camp. The former first-round pick is entering the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent after the season.

CB Greg Newsome II

Greg Newsome is no stranger to trade rumors. Since being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he began his career as a boundary corner but has since transitioned to playing primarily in the slot.

Now entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, Newsome is a legitimate trade candidate. The Browns were reportedly open to offers for him during the draft, but no deal materialized at the right value. He has started 42 of 54 games across four seasons and remains one of three starting-caliber cornerbacks on the roster.

RB Jerome Ford

Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Jerome Ford has provided solid value for the Browns. He’s a versatile back who contributes in all phases of the game. However, Cleveland drafted two running backs—Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson—who likely have higher ceilings.

Ford’s contract was recently restructured, which makes a trade more likely than an outright release. The former Cincinnati standout could still be the team’s No. 3 running back by the end of the season—and a quality one at that.
