3 Must-Watch Bears Games for the 2025 Season (and 3 That Don't Move the Needle)

With the 2025 NFL schedule in our hands, the anticipation for the start of the season is palpable. Week 1, the season opener, sets the tone for the entire year and is a game that fans of every team eagerly await. Hosting a division game on Monday Night Football is a vast difference from how the Bears started last year, and should make for great television. But beyond that, there are a few games on the calendar that have been deemed “must-watch.”

Three Must-Watch Games

Week 6 @ Washington Commanders

Are you sick of re-watching the Hail Mary? Week 6 could be the last time we have to watch that ever again. The Bears visit the Commanders for the third season in a row and hope to exercise some demons. This game felt like a fork in the road for both teams. The last-second loss to the Commanders broke the Bears' locker room and put an 'unofficial' end to Matt Eberflus' command of the team. They lost the next nine games in a row while the Commanders went on to the NFC Championship, with Jayden Daniels winning Rookie of the Year honors. This game isn't just big for the Bears but also for Caleb Williams, as he needs to punch back in the "Daniels vs Williams" debate.

Week 14 @ Green Bay Packers

As WWE Champion Seth Rollins pointed out during the NFL draft, Caleb Williams is undefeated at Lambeau Field. The Bears must wait until Week 14 for their first matchup against their biggest rival, and while the fan bases don't need any other factors involved for this to be 'must watch', the rivalry has taken on a new context with the recent back-and-forth between the two head coaches. The late nature of the game will likely mean that both teams will be in the playoff hunt, and back-to-back wins in Lambeau would only further cement Caleb's growth and lure among Bears fans.

Week 12 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

This matchup is a must-watch for one reason only: Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has not yet signed with the Steelers, but all signs seem to be that a union between the two is inevitable. The last time Aaron Rodgers played against the Bears, the Packers won 28-19 at Soldier Field. This game was significant because Rodgers passed Brett Favre for the most regular-season wins by a quarterback against Chicago since 1950. Rodgers also famously told Bears fans, "I still own you" after a touchdown. The Bears have a chance to defeat Aaron Rodgers at Soldier Field in what would likely be his final start there, and get the last laugh.

Three Games That Could Let Down

Week 10 vs New York Giants

Russell Wilson? Jameis Winston? Jaxon Dart? Does it really matter who is under center for the Giants when they come to Soldier Field in the middle of the season? The Giants are the only team in the NFL with a tougher schedule than the Bears. They will already have faced the Eagles twice, the Chargers, the Commanders, and the Chiefs before their matchup with the Bears. Head coach Brian Daboll is already on the hot seat, and a predictably bad start might mean an interim coach is on the sidelines by week 10. This should be a game the Bears win comfortably (knock on wood).

Week 7 vs New Orleans Saints

I guess you could call this the Dennis Allen 'revenge game', but with Ben Johnson already playing Detroit twice, this feels like the Temu version of 'revenge games'. The New Orleans Saints just had their quarterback retire, and it doesn't sound like he's coming back. It will be rookie head coach Kellen Moore coaching up rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, who is only 11 years younger than Moore himself. The Saints need a total rebuild and will likely be under .500 by the time they come to visit Chicago in mid-October. For Bears fans, this game is sandwiched between two road games against the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens and could be looked at as a filler between two potentially great matchups.

Week 17 @ San Francisco 49ers

This is a tale of two franchises that appear to be headed in opposite directions. While the Bears received an A+ grade for their offseason from PFF, the San Francisco 49ers received a D. On paper, this has all the makings of a pivotal NFC matchup between two viable teams contending for a playoff spot during the season's second-to-last game. However, I believe that this is the year the 49ers take a major step back. They lost several of their core players this offseason and have one of the oldest rosters in the league. In Week 17, they could be a team playing out the string with several starters inactive due to injury. The Bears, meanwhile, will be hosting key divisional games on both sides of this game and will be trying not to look ahead to the Week 18 showdown against the Lions in Soldier Field.
