3 Revenge Games Headline Steelers Schedule
Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers learned the dates and times of their regular season schedule, allowing fans and players alike to truly circle their calendars and get excited for the upcoming action.

Some of those big games are implied. The AFC North never fails to disappoint, with six games bound to have bragging rights and playoff implications. They’ll play a Thursday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals and a Monday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins. Their two Sunday nightcaps will come against the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers.

They will even get a standalone morning game across the pond, taking on the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland.

The Steelers’ schedule also features three key revenge games for fans to keep an eye on in 2025.

Week 1 at New York Jets

The revenge games will come early for Pittsburgh. Head coach Mike Tomlin doesn’t know who his starting quarterback will be just yet, but the Jets will be starting one of the Steelers’ 2024 passers, Justin Fields.

Fields was somewhat spurned by Tomlin, who benched him for Russell Wilson after a 4-2 start. He won’t have to worry about another starting quarterback chasing him down in East Rutherford, and he’ll get the chance to show Pittsburgh what it’s missing.

Adding to the intrigue is the possibility of Aaron Rodgers, who spent two years in New York, signing with the Steelers. Cornerback Brandin Echols also departed for Western Pennsylvania after spending his rookie contract with the Jets.

Week 2 vs. Seattle Seahawks

It won’t take long for the storylines to underline the schedule. In Week 2, Pittsburgh will play its home opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Of course, the Steelers traded for Seahawks star receiver DK Metcalf in the offseason.

If there’s any bad blood for Seattle not wanting to extend him, he’ll get the chance for payback in the middle of September. Metcalf’s role is even bigger now that Pittsburgh traded receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.

Week 10 at Los Angeles Chargers

The writing was on the wall for running back Najee Harris when the Steelers declined his fifth-year option ahead of the 2024 season. They followed through in the offseason, letting him hit free agency and drafting his replacement, running back Kaleb Johnson, in Round 2.

Harris will co-star with first-round running back Omarion Hampton in the Chargers’ backfield and will be joined by former Pittsburgh contributors in corner Donte Jackson and receiver Mike Williams.
