3 Teams That Could Target Josh Gordon Once He Is Reinstated

So based on how the NFL has treated him in the past, he seems set for another chance to return and get back to playing.

The question now becomes finding teams that would give him a shot knowing the fact he could be out again at any moment.

That is not a knock at Gordon, but rather an acknowledgement of his past.

Let’s take a look at three teams that may be willing to give Gordon another shot if he is reinstated.

3. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are an obvious choice because he was with the team in 2019 and 2020.

Unfortunately, he did not play in 2020 due to suspension and the team let him go earlier this year.

Seattle obviously saw something they liked in Gordon and bringing him back in for another go would not hurt.

DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are the team’s two top targets.

After that, it is wide open as to waiting for someone to step up as the third target.

Gordon could come in on a minimum deal and join a team he is already familiar with.

Doing that and linking up with Russell Wilson again could be what he needs for stability in 2021.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

This would be an example of the rich getting richer.

A top team like the Kansas City Chiefs can afford to take a chance on Gordon because it is not like they necessarily need him.

He would show up as an incredible bonus to an already stacked offense.

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce get the bulk of the targets in that offense.

At receiver specifically, it is so top-heavy toward Hill that adding Gordon could free up the speedy receiver to do even more.

The team moved on from Sammy Watkins, leaving them with Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson behind Hill.

Adding the 6-foot-3 Gordon would give the offense a new dynamic that may be impossible to stop.

1. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have to be an obvious choice when talking about adding wide receiver help.

In that offense the pecking order is Davante Adams, followed by everyone else.

Randall Cobb was brought back, but he is not his former self.

Gordon would be a legitimate number two to Adams in the offense and would help the front office prove to Aaron Rodgers they are actually trying to improve the team.

At this point there is nothing to lose, especially after such an ugly Week 1 showing.

Gordon needs to be on a contending team where the focus is on winning, and teaming up with Rodgers could be great for him.
