It's Tuesday, and San Francisco 49ers veterans are officially reporting to training camp as NFL teams across the league ramp up preparations for the 2025 season.
The biggest storyline entering 49ers training camp surrounds veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who is seeking a contract extension. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement, Jennings plans to pursue a trade—potentially shaking up the team's offensive outlook.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch are scheduled to speak with reporters at 11:00 a.m. PT. The 49ers will hold their first practice on Wednesday. The team will hold 11 open practices through Tuesday, August 12.
This year's training camp will be crucial for a team that underwent a major roster overhaul during the offseason. Several positional battles are expected to generate buzz, including competitions for starting roles at left guard, linebacker, defensive tackle, cornerback, and safety.
The 49ers kick off their 2025 preseason schedule at home against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, August 9, at Levi's Stadium. They'll then hit the road to face the Las Vegas Raiders, before returning home to close out the preseason against the Los Angeles Chargers.
San Francisco opens the 2025 regular season on Sunday, September 7, in a divisional matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
