According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the San Francisco 49ers are signing linebacker Stone Blanton to the practice squad. An official announcement is expected soon, potentially alongside other roster moves.

Blanton was one of five linebackers who worked out for the 49ers ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. He should already be familiar to The Faithful. Blanton originally signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2025, but was waived on August 26 during the team's 53-man roster cutdown.

The move comes after the 49ers placed Fred Warner on injured reserve. Warner suffered a dislocated and fractured right ankle that required season-ending surgery. Tatum Bethune has stepped in as the starter in Warner's absence.

Blanton played college football at South Carolina (2022–2023) and Mississippi State (2024). Over 36 collegiate games, he recorded 184 tackles, including six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one interception.
