The San Francisco 49ers signed star field general Brock Purdy to a much-awaited extension just a few days ago that is for five years and is worth $265 million.

But despite the big pay day, Purdy celebrated his new contract extension in a way that fans have come to expect from him.

In a post that she made on X, Purdy's mother, Carrie, shared some of the photos that she took with her son, and they shared a cake to congratulate the 25-year-old. In an interview with KTVU, the Niners QB revealed where that cake was from.

"It was just a simple cake my mom got at the grocery store," Purdy said. "She called ahead of time and picked it up. I just like chocolate cake; it was special to me."

So even though Purdy just got a huge pay raise with which he could have gotten a cake specially made by a professional, he decided to keep it simple.

Which fans have accepted as the norm for Purdy.

The most notable examples of their budget-conscious lifestyle is the fact that he still drives a Toyota Sequoia, as well as still living with a roommate. He is now going to be getting enough money to get a new car, but there is a good chance that Purdy will not change.

And that's a good thing.

The Niners missed the playoffs this past season, so Purdy will be looking to use his new extension as motivation to prove that he is worth the money and lead San Francisco back to the promise land.
