The San Francisco 49ers just signed star field general Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million deal that makes him tied for the seventh-highest paid QB in the NFL.
What is he going to do with all of that money?
Purdy recently talked with reporters about what the first big purchase he will make is following his large contract extension.
How about a yacht?
"We're still thinking about some stuff, but, I don't know, I've always been a big fishing advocate," Purdy said. "So I was telling my wife and she's annoyed with me but, I'll say it—I'd like to get a bass boat one day. That'll be my first big purchase."
Some would go with something a bit more practical, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Pun intended. ...
The Niners were last in the NFC West in 2024 with a 6-11 record, but Purdy did not play as bad as the record would indicate. He finished the season with 3,854 yards and 20 touchdowns on 66 percent completion.

Most of the Niners' struggles were due to a few of their star getting injured for extended periods of time, such as Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk. So the team's record cannot be fully blamed on Purdy.
The team is hoping that with this new extension, Purdy will have a new motivation to take to the team to Super Bowl level heights. And if everyone can stay healthy, he could have a good chance of captaining this ship and of doing just that.
