49ers continue fire sale by releasing this nine-time Pro Bowler

It's tough to be famous in the NFL as a fullback, at least in today's era, but Kyle Juszczyk has been all that and more for the San Francisco 49ers.

He's easily the best fullback in the game — he's been like a Swiss army knife for Kyle Shanahan's offense because of his ability to block, run and catch the football — but the San Francisco 49ers had to make the tough call Monday to let him know that his services are no longer needed.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Juszczyk is being released by the 49ers.

Before the move, the 49ers had roughly $34M in cap space, but Juszczyk is 33 years old and was set to count $6M against San Francisco's salary cap for 2025 — a huge number for a fullback.

Keep in mind, the 49ers are supposedly in talks to give quarterback Brock Purdy a lucrative contract extension and star tight end George Kittle is heading into the final season of his deal and could garner a contract extension.

General manager John Lynch clearly wants all the cap space he can get to work with, but it had to have been tough to part ways with the nine-time Pro Bowl fullback.
