Deommodore Lenoir has emerged as a draft steal for the San Francisco 49ers, and he continues to reap the financial benefits.
The NFL announced its performance-based pay distributions for 2023 on Monday, with 2021 fifth-round Lenoir among those to receive a nice boost to their wallet.
A collectively bargained benefit that compensates all players, the performance-based pay program is based upon playing time and salary levels.
Lenoir was given $790,744 in performance-based pay, the 14th-most in the NFL and the third-most among cornerbacks.
By establishing himself as a starter for the 49ers, Lenoir had already earned a proven performance escalator to raise his 2024 salary by $1.7 million to take it to $3.1 million.
With the bonus for his 2023 efforts, Lenoir has developed a habit for earning pay increases, one he will hope to continue next offseason, when he is set to enter unrestricted free agency.
Lenoir enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, following up a strong 2022 with an excellent campaign in which he recorded three interceptions and, per Sports Info Solutions, finished with a passer rating against of 56.4 that was the ninth-best among cornerbacks with at least 50 targets.
Still only 24, Lenoir theoretically has even better years ahead of him. If one follows in 2024, he can expect a much more handsome pay day next offseason.
