49ers get big news on Isaac Guerendo's status ahead of must-win primetime clash with Rams

Isaac Guerendo sprained his foot in the San Francisco 49ers' Week 14 win over the Chicago Bears last Sunday, but just four days on from that injury, the rookie running back is going to try to put any lingering pain behind him to play in a must-win clash with the Los Angeles Rams.

Guerendo had been listed as questionable for the Thursday Night Football matchup, in which the 49ers have to prevail to have a realistic shot of making the playoffs.

He did not take part in the 49ers' only official practice ahead of the game on Tuesday, but was designated as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

And the level of rest he has received this week appears to have been sufficient for Guerendo to make the second start of his young career.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Guerendo plans to play, the fourth-round pick reportedly insisting he "feels good".

Guerendo was elevated to the role of starting running back after both Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason were lost for the season with injuries in the 49ers' Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The former Wisconsin and Louisville back went for 128 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the Niners' 38-13 rout of the Bears.

While he may feel good enough to play, the combination of Guerendo's injury and the tight turnaround should see Patrick Taylor Jr, Ke'Shawn Vaughn and potentially Israel Abanikanda, claimed off waivers last week, mixed into the rushing attack consistently.
