San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been released from hospital after being admitted with pneumonia.

Samuel played just four snaps in the 49ers' Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs having reported feel unwell early on Sunday.

He attempted to fight through the illness but was seen getting oxygen on the sideline, with head coach Kyle Shanahan saying afterward that the All-Pro wide receiver had been struggling to breathe.

In his Monday conference call, Shanahan revealed Samuel was sent to hospital on Sunday night and had fluid in his lungs.

But NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reported on Tuesday that Samuel had been released, the news a welcome boost to a receiver corps that lost Brandon Aiyuk for the season on Sunday when he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the second quarter.

However, it remains to be seen if Samuel will be able to play in Sunday's primetime clash with the Dallas Cowboys. The status of fellow wideout Jauan Jennings (hip) is also unclear after he missed the defeat to the Chiefs. Tight end George Kittle (foot) is day to day.
