49ers give worrisome Nick Bosa injury update

When it rains, it pours for the San Francisco 49ers.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, star pass-rusher Nick Bosa is now considered week-to-week due to lingering knee issues.

“49ers DE Nick Bosa, who is returning from a torn ACL, is now considered week-to-week due to tendinitis in his surgically repaired knee, per HC Kyle Shanahan,” Meirov shared on X.

Bosa is just working his way back from another major, season-ending injury.

However, Bleacher Report's James Palmer adds that this new ailment is actually tied to his first major injury, which he suffered in high school:

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan comments on Nick Bosa's injury

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said it's nothing too serious and that they still expect him to be on the field for the season opener.

“It’s a normal thing,” the coach said, per The Athletic. “That’s why we (have to) be smart, week to week. But no concerns about him, any more than that.”

Still, it's hard to feel optimistic about a player who missed 14 games last season and has an extensive history of injuries, much more if this issue has been lingering for over a decade.

Following a brilliant tenure at St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale, Bosa went on to thrive at Ohio State before the 49ers made him the second-overall pick in 2019.

He looked poised for a Hall of Fame career and even earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in just his third season in the league, but injuries have been a thorn in his side since.
