Receiver Jauan Jennings expressed interest in a contract extension or trade from the San Francisco 49ers ahead of training camp, which set off alarm bells in the heads of Niners Nation.
After camp began on Wednesday, those alarms seem to have quieted down as Jennings avoided a hold out or hold in. He was present and active during the 49ers' first practice.
The standout receiver greeted coaches and executives yesterday before leading the team onto the practice field. That prompts us to believe the receiver is in good spirits regarding his new situation.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan already dismissed the idea of a trade, meaning Jennings, as he enters the final year of his two-year, $11.89 million contract, should get an extension soon.
Shanahan commended Jennings for this showing of leadership to attend practice and participate when it was possible he could hold out or hold in until his contract is figured out.
“Definitely coaching-wise, you want everyone out there on the field, especially some of your better players,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said, via 49ersWebzone.com. “And Jauan’s been a hell of a player for us here for a while, one of our leaders, too. ... He had a good practice, and it was great to have him out there.”
This positive update could stem from various factors that encouraged Jennings to carry on with practice.
After Brandon Aiyuk's messy situation last year, where he missed the entire offseason program and eventually got hurt after a slow start to the year, Jennings might have thought it was in his best interest to still workout and prepare for the season, with the risk of on-field regression outweighing any upcoming business off the field.
Secondly, there may have been conversations with the front office that assured Jennings will be re-signed. Shanahan's remarks about no trade being on the table was a good sign, but after Jennings' career year in 2024 (77 catches, 975 yards, six touchdowns), it's very possible general manager John Lynch personally expressed interest in keeping him. That would have calmed the nerves and allowed Jennings to head on to practice.
Regardless, Niners fans can rejoice as their presumptive top wide receiver to start the 2025 season is in the building and putting in work with his teammates.
We can't officially breathe easy until his new contract becomes official, but that reality is growing closer by the second.
