The San Francisco 49ers went into Seattle and beat the Seahawks 32-29. It was a back‑and‑forth game that saw the 49ers turn the ball over three times and give up their first three sacks of the season. They also forced four turnovers and recorded five sacks of their own. Mike Evans showed 49ers fans exactly what it’s like to have Mike Evans on your team, and Gracen Halton is starting to make a name for himself. These two teams meet again in Week 12 for round two.
The 49ers put up 269 total yards — 175 passing and 94 rushing. The offense turned the ball over twice, with the third coming on special teams, and gave up three sacks to a very good Seahawks defense.
Brock Purdy went 19 of 29 for 189 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He stayed composed in a tough environment, bounced back from a costly interception, and led the 49ers on two scoring drives in the fourth quarter.
Christian McCaffrey ran the ball 11 times for 68 yards and a touchdown. On a few of CMC’s runs, it looked like he was one block away from breaking a big one.
Mike Evans had his best game as a Niner so far with seven receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown. George Kittle added five receptions for 24 yards while playing sick.
The offensive line gave up the first sacks of the season, but none of them came when it mattered.
Overall, the 49ers offense had a tough time moving the ball against Seattle’s defense and dealt with a few self‑inflicted wounds, but they were able to overcome them. The Purdy‑to‑Evans connection is getting stronger by the week.
The 49ers defense gave up 251 total yards — 162 through the air and 89 on the ground. They also recorded five sacks, forced four turnovers, and scored a defensive touchdown.
Halton recorded three tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a touchdown — by far the best game of his young career. Each week, he has been getting better, and he’ll be a player to watch moving forward. Sebastian Valdez recorded his first career sack, Osa Odighizuwa recorded his first sack as a Niner, and Keion White recorded his third sack of the season.
Fred Warner was all over the field again, finishing with 10 total tackles and a forced fumble. Due to Dre Greenlaw getting disqualified, rookie Jaden Dugger saw extended playing time and finished with nine tackles and his first career sack.
Renardo Green intercepted Sam Darnold twice, bringing his season total to three. Green has really started to evolve this season. Malik Mustapha and Ji’Ayir Brown both finished with seven tackles, and Mustapha made his presence felt with multiple big hits throughout the game.
Overall, the defense played great. They didn’t give up much in the run game, brought the quarterback down five times, and forced four turnovers. They didn’t allow any big plays, and we saw rookies step up when it mattered.
Talk about a mixed bag. Jacob Cowing fumbled a punt that led to a Seahawks score. Eddy Pineiro went one of two on his field goal attempts but made all three PATs. Corliss Waitman was the special teams star this week — every one of his punts pinned the Seahawks deep.
The 49ers played a sloppy game with three turnovers, but in the face of adversity they rose to the occasion. They played like a veteran, battle‑tested team.
The Seahawks and 49ers went blow for blow, and it ultimately came down to Seattle coming up inches short. The Seahawks head to Denver for Thursday Night Football to play the 3-2 Broncos.
The 49ers are currently 5-0 and just won an ugly game against a good team. They have injuries all over the place, and guys keep stepping up. In the coming weeks, the 49ers will be getting players back from injury — and who knows what else might happen.
