The San Francisco 49ers will have to find a replacement for cornerback Charvarius Ward to agreed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

The story was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Ward will sign a three-year, $60 million contract on Wednesday, the first day players can officially change teams. The contract contains $35 million of guaranteed funds. Ward will also get a $20 million signing bonus, which is part of the guaranteed funds, when he puts pen to paper.

He started his career with the Dallas Cowboys, who signed him out of Tennessee State University, as an undrafted free agent.

He was later traded to Kansas City where he became a star. When he got to San Francisco in 2022, he signed a three-year $42 million pact. He also became a Pro Bowl player in 2023.

Tragedy would strike Ward  in 2024. He was limited to 12 games due to the fact his young daughter, Amani Joy, dies just before her second birthday after a long battle with coronary issues.

For his three seasons by the bay, Ward finished with 213 tackles, six interceptions, 41 passes broken up and he forced two fumbles.

The Colts have a new defensive coordinator in Lou Anarumo. Ward is the second addition to the defensive backfield for the new coach who also signed safety Cam Bynum.

Ward, who is also known as "Mooney" to those who are close to him, was a member of the Chiefs when they won Super Bowl LIV. For his career he has 435 tackles and 10 interceptions.
