The San Francisco 49ers had until 4 p.m. ET this Friday to make a decision on Trent Williams' option bonus for the 2026 season. Let's just say their rift with the All-Pro left tackle isn't over yet.

It was reported earlier this month that San Francisco might part ways with Williams this offseason. The front office has been trying to work out a "contractual solution" to lower his cap figure. Well, things might get worse before they get better for the 49ers.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers aren't picking up Williams' $10 million option bonus. As a result, his cap hit for the 2026 season will balloon up to $47 million.

Despite not working out their differences with Williams, the 49ers aren't "overly concerned" about this situation. To be fair, 49ers general manager John Lynch didn't sound too worried when asked about this situation at the NFL Scouting Combine.

“What I’ll tell you is that in recent weeks I’ve met with both Trent and with his agent, Vincent Taylor, and had really good, productive and substantive meetings,” Lynch said, via ESPN. “And so, here’s what I know. Trent loves being a Niner. We love having Trent as a Niner and it’s up to us to figure that out and to thread that needle. There are some unique circumstances in that we all know what Trent is as a player, how great of a player he’s been. He’s going to be 38 years old and so there’s some things that go into that, but I think we’re all on the same page and feel very positive about where that’s going.”

It's hard to imagine the 49ers will get rid of Williams this offseason. After all, every move they've made in free agency is geared for them to win right now.

The 49ers signed Pro Bowl wideout Mike Evans to a three-year deal, acquired defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys , and reunited with veteran linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

As of now, the 49ers are +280 to win the NFC West.
