49ers owner and CEO Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio over the weekend, as detailed by Kristen Hephner and Josh Frketic of WKBN. He was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges.
Court records indicate (h/t ESPN’s Nick Wagoner) York was originally arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution but entered a plea of no contest with that charge being amended to disorderly conduct. York’s other charge upon arrested on Sunday was possessing criminal tools. He entered a no contest plea early Monday morning and posted a $5K bond.
York received a sentence of two days in the Columbiana County Jail, with one of those having already been credited as time served in the wake of his arrest. $1,150K in fines were issued as well. $160 which was seized from York has been given to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of his plea deal.
York took on the role of CEO in 2008 with his parents moving to co-chairs of the 49ers in the process. The 46-year-old’s status as the de facto face of ownership was further increased in 2024 when he bought out his mother’s shares in the franchise. The 49ers are principally owned by a combination of Jed York, his father John and the shares held by the Denise DeBartolo York family trust.
Last May, it was learned the 49ers were among the teams seeking approval from the league for the purchase of small minority stakes. The agreement to provide three Bay Area families with a combined share of roughly six percent of the franchise still left Jed York as the team’s controlling owner. He has continued in that capacity since, and there is no indication any changes to the 49ers’ setup on that front are expected.
