49ers part ways with two players on IR
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

According to the NFL transaction wire, the San Francisco 49ers have parted ways with two players—defensive back A.J. Parker and kicker Zane Gonzalez. Both players were on season-ending injured reserve, and the team reached an injury settlement with each.

Gonzalez landed on injured reserve on August 29 after suffering a right calf injury during pre-game warmups before the Niners' final preseason game. Parker landed on injured reserve the same day. He was dealing with a hamstring injury.

San Francisco traded for Gonzalez in March, and third-round draft pick Jake Moody, a kicker from Michigan, later joined him on the roster. Moody's Week 1 status remains unclear. He is dealing with a right quad injury, but the team is optimistic that the rookie will be available against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Niners recently signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad as insurance if Moody cannot play.
