The San Francisco 49ers announced Saturday that linebacker Nick Martin has been placed on injured reserve due to a concussion suffered on November 30 against the Cleveland Browns.

Martin was seen working on a side field earlier in the week, prompting speculation that he was making progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Martin was still experiencing symptoms as recently as earlier this week.

"Yes, that's why he is in the protocol," Shanahan said on Thursday.

The 49ers selected Martin in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State. He suited up for seven games this season, totaling 11 tackles and a forced fumble.

San Francisco recently added veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks, who could be elevated from the practice squad ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
