Brock Purdy is dealing with a turf toe type of injury for the San Francisco 49ers, but that does not mean he is out for the team’s Week 3 game.
Purdy suffered both toe and shoulder injuries in the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He missed the Niners’ Week 2 game, and there was talk he could miss two to five weeks. But Purdy may not even be out for Week 3 just yet.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday that Purdy was limited at practice that day. He also said that Purdy could play in Week 3, but it sounds like that would be as the team’s emergency backup quarterback.
Shanahan says Brock Purdy has a chance to start Sunday.

If Purdy could suit up for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, that would be a good sign about his recovery. In the meantime, Mac Jones could be in line to get another start for San Francisco. Jones went 26-of-39 for 279 yards with three touchdowns in his Niners’ 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints.
