The postgame moment between San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Detroit Lions star Jared Goff didn't go unnoticed. In fact, the Niners themselves highlighted the sportsmanship that the two players showed on Monday.
San Francisco lost to Detroit 40-34 in the "Monday Night Football" showdown. Goff led the way for the Lions with 303 yards and three touchdowns on 26-of-34 pass completion.
Purdy, for his part, completed 27 of his 35 passes for 377 yards and three passing touchdowns, albeit with two interceptions. He also had one score on the ground, rushing three times for 12 yards.
The two certainly had quite the battle, and they made sure to acknowledge each other with a postgame handshake.
The 49ers shared a video of the moment and captioned it with, "QBs" along with a handshake emoji.
Sure enough, fans also loved the exchange, with many taking to the comment section to heap praise on the two.
"Respect to Detroit," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "My QBs."
"All respect! Good luck in the playoffs, Lions!" a follower added.
While it's a disappointing end for the 49ers, it's still pretty cool to see Brock Purdy and Jared Goff show respect for each other, especially after the intense battle they had.
The 49ers dropped to 6-10 on the season with their latest defeat, although they were already eliminated from playoff contention prior to the showdown. As for the Lions, they improved to 14-2 and head to Week 18 with a shot at claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
