The San Francisco 49ers ended up missing the playoffs during the 2024 NFL season. A lot of injury issues ended up causing the team to struggle.
While they may have missed the playoffs last season, they are also a team to watch for a huge return to power in 2025. A few good offseason moves could make them one of the teams to beat in the NFC once again.
Immediately following the Los Angeles Chargers' decision to release Joey Bosa, the 49ers were linked as a team who could sign him. Pairing Bosa with his younger brother, Nick Bosa, would be of interest to both San Francisco and Bosa himself.
Now, it sounds like that possibility has become even more likely.
According to a report from Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, the 49ers are "having good conversations" and that the situation "feels like it's headed toward a deal."
"Meanwhile, I've heard Joey Bosa and 49ers are having good conversations and this feels like it's headed toward a deal," Kawakami wrote on X. "Nothing is done, but the Bosa brothers want to be together and probably will get there this year. Which likely means this will be a moderate deal + incentives."

Adding Bosa would give San Francisco an elite pass rushing duo. The Bosa brothers would be very difficult for opposing offensive lines to stop.
During the 2024 NFL season, the older Bosa played in 14 games. He recorded 22 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles.
He has had some injury issues throughout the years, but taking a gamble on Joey and Nick Bosa playing together would be worth it for the 49ers.
