49ers signing DE K.J. Henry after workout

The San Francisco 49ers are signing defensive end K.J. Henry after bringing him in for a workout on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Henry was one of four players who worked out for the 49ers, along with defensive end Titus Leo and linebackers Quinton Bell and Victor Dimukeje.

The Washington Commanders selected Henry (6-4, 255) in the fifth round (No. 137 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He spent his rookie season in Washington before stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Henry appeared in one game with the Browns in 2025, contributing exclusively on special teams. His most significant defensive action came during his rookie campaign in 2023, when he played 282 defensive snaps over 10 games, including three starts, and totaled 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Over three NFL seasons, Henry has appeared in 15 games with three starts, recording 22 tackles, 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and two passes defensed.
