Jimmy Garoppolo and rookie quarterback Trey Lance took the field Tuesday for the San Francisco 49ers' OTAs.
According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, both quarterbacks received reps in 11-on-11 drills and while Garoppolo looked recovered from last season's ankle injury, Lance also impressed.
Niners star tight end George Kittle lauded the North Dakota State product, saying, "He looks a little bit better than a rookie quarterback."

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was also impressed with Lance, saying, "He's been everything we've hoped for and more," according to Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee.

The 49ers moved up in the draft to select Lance third overall. However, the franchise has reiterated time and time again that Garoppolo will remain the starting quarterback.
If the oft-injured veteran suffers another casualty next season, then Lance will get the opportunity to take over sooner rather than later. For now, he'll likely just have to wait for his opportunity to shine.
