49ers trade for veteran LB Deion Jones

The San Francisco 49ers have acquired veteran linebacker Deion Jones from the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. In exchange, the Saints will receive 49ers running back Zamir White.

The Atlanta Falcons selected Jones (6-1, 222) out of LSU in the second round (52nd overall pick) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent his first six NFL seasons in Atlanta before playing for the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the 2025 season with the Buccaneers, Jones appeared in all 17 games but did not start, recording 29 total tackles, including 16 solo and 13 assisted.

Over 10 NFL seasons, Jones has appeared in 128 games, totaling 761 tackles, 12 sacks, 53 passes defended, 13 interceptions, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and five defensive touchdowns. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 2017.
